Ortholook’s seven steps to a perfect smile
The success and speed of orthodontic therapy depends on the expertise of the orthodontist, the type of bracket, the condition of the teeth and jaws, but also on good planning and cooperation between the patient and the doctor.
First conversation
When you come to us, you will meet Dr. Leila and talk to her about your difficulties and wishes. The doctor will listen to you and suggest a smile correction procedure in Ortolook.
Diagnostic
If you want, we can do the diagnostic procedures right after the first conversation with the doctor – or you can arrange another appointment. We have all the necessary devices for diagnostics in the office.
Diagnostics takes about twenty minutes and includes:
- intraoral imaging
- taking impressions
- orthopan recording.
3D orthopan is a special x-ray that creates a 3D image of your teeth, jaws and bones. We use KaVO Instrumentarium OP3D orthopan of the latest generation, which creates high-quality recordings with extremely low radiation.
In more demanding cases, we will take an impression of the upper and lower jaw with the help of soft paste. The procedure is painless and quickly completed.
Creating a therapy plan
Immediately after diagnosis, on the same day, the doctor can create a therapy plan. They will suggest the type of braces and choose the best solution in consultation with you. In case it is necessary to involve a specialist in oral surgery or prosthetics, the plan is drawn up within 24 hours.
Before placing braces, it is important to check whether all teeth are healthy and free of cavities. If they are not, they need to be fixed. At Ortolook, we have a doctor of dental medicine who, if necessary, will repair your teeth professionally and painlessly.
Placing braces
Placing braces takes about 30 minutes. The procedure is painless, and all you have to do is brush your teeth well before coming. In case you come to one of the afternoon appointments after work, our disposable toothbrushes with integrated toothpaste are always at your disposal.
Regular examinations
Thanks to Dr. Leila’s great experience and expertise, braces check-ups are done at intervals of 7-8 weeks instead of every 4 weeks.
During the control examination, Dr. Leila monitors the progress of the therapy and the planned tooth movements, and if you use classic or self-ligating braces, she replaces the wires, ligatures or rubber bands as necessary. At each examination, Dr. Leila will give you detailed instructions for the next phase of therapy.
Removing braces
After the teeth have reached the desired positions, we remove the braces and polish the teeth in order to deeply clean them and give them a bright shine. The procedure is completely painless.
Production and wearing of mobile splints / retainers
In order for the teeth to remain permanently in place after therapy, patients must wear mobile splints or retainers. In the first few months after therapy, they are worn all day and night – except during meals, and then only at night.
